    Dumpster Terminology

    You find out quickly in the dumpster business that there are a lot of terms or lingo that’s used that some may find confusing. A roll off dumpster can be called either a container, dumpster, can, box, cart, or maybe even something else; many people call them different things. It’s typically called a roll off dumpster because it has wheels on the back of the dumpster and it “rolls off” of the truck that delivers it.

    The initial delivery is sometimes called a “drop”. Meaning that the dumpster was dropped off. If you fill the dumpster and need another dumpster, it’s usually called a “swap”. When you’re finished with your dumpster and need it picked up, it’s called a “final”. We know that not everyone is familiar with the industry jargon, so don’t feel embarrassed if you don’t quite understand what people in the business mean by their words.
