Dumpster Terminology
Terminology of the roll off dumpster business. You find out quickly that in the dumpster business there are a lot of terms or lingo that is used, that some may find confusing. Firstly, a roll off dumpster can be called a container, dumpster, can, box, cart, or maybe even something else. Many people call them different things. It’s typically called a roll off dumpster simply because it has wheels on the back of the dumpster and it “rolls off” of the truck that delivers it. That’s the simplest way to remember what to call it. Secondly, when you rent a dumpster, there are some terms that may be confusing. The initial delivery is sometimes called a “drop”. That just means that the dumpster was dropped off. If you fill the dumpster and need another dumpster, it’s usually called a “swap”. When you’re finished with your dumpster and you need it picked up, it’s called a “final”. We know that not everyone is familiar with the industry lingo, so we try to make it clear when we make any new order.
